This article is for all non-Arab Muslims, or even the Arabs living in a non-Muslim country looking for a great online Quran course, so if you’re interested please keep reading!
What Is The Holy Quran?
“لَوْ أَنْزَلْنَا هذا الْقُرْآنَ عَلَىٰ جَبَلٍ لَرَأَيْتَهُ خَاشِعًا مُتَصَدِّعًا مِنْ خَشْيَةِ اللَّهِ ۚ
— Surah al-hashr. verse 21.
“If we had sent down this Quran upon a mountain, you would have seen it humbled and coming apart from fear of Allah. And these examples we present to the people that perhaps they will give thought.”
The kind of people mentioned in this verse is those whom we write these lines for. There are many Muslims who are passionate about the Holy Quran. They love Allah and His messenger. They have tender hearts, so they seek to learn one or more of the different Holy Quran sciences. These people are of different ages. Although some of them are old, they still want to learn. This kind of people will be rewarded by Allah.
Abu Hurairah narrated that The Messenger (peace and blessings are upon him) said: “Whoever takes a path upon which to obtain knowledge, Allah makes the path to Paradise easy for him.” Jami at- Tirmidhi 2646. The messenger Muhammad ( peace and prayers are upon him) also said: ” The best of you are those who learn Quran and teach it.” Sahih Al – Bukhari 5027.
The marvelous beauty of the Holy Quran is that you cannot change even one letter of it, instead, its worthy messages can change you deeply. And the true meaning of learning the Holy Quran is to put Allah’s speech deep inside your heart so that its messages and orders can always be a constant companion with you wherever you are. Reciting Quran should be a daily routine for true honest Muslims who seek paradise.
Abu Musa al-Ashari reported: The Prophet, peace, and blessings be upon him, said, “The parable of the believer who recites the Quran is that of a citrus fruit, which tastes good and has a pleasant scent. The parable of the believer who does not recite the Quran is that of a date, which has no scent but tastes good. The parable of a hypocrite who recites the Quran is that of basil, which has a pleasant scent but tastes bitter. The parable of the hypocrite who does not recite the Quran is that of a vine, which has no scent and tastes bitter.” Ṣaḥīḥ al-Bukhārī 5059, Ṣaḥīḥ Muslim 797
Difficulties Non-Arab Muslims Face And How to Overcome Them
Let’s now go over some obstacles and difficulties that the non-Arab Muslims face when learning Quran and its various sciences
The Language
Allah the most high reported in the Holy Quran, Surah Ash-Shuara:- “(192 ) It is a revelation from the Lord of the Worlds. )193) The Honest Spirit came down with it (194 ) Upon your heart, that you may be one of the Warners. (195) In a clear Arabic tongue.”
Arabic is the language of the Holy Quran. What a blessing for the native Arabic speakers to be born with Arabic tongues! Can you imagine how hard it is and what efforts non-Arabs do to learn how to read the Holy Quran? And that’s why allah rewards them twice.
A’ishah (may Allah be pleased with her) reported: The Messenger of Allah (may Allah’s peace and blessings be upon him) said: “The one who recites the Qur’an skillfully will be in the company of the noble and righteous messenger-angels and the one who reads the Qur’an, but stutters and finds it difficult, receives a double reward.” Sahih/Authentic. – [Al-Bukhari and Muslim]
To overcome this issue, you have to join an online Quran course to learn the fundamentals of the Arabic language and to learn how to read the Quranic Arabic Language efficiently and fluently.
Scarcity of Mosques And Islamic Educational Institutions
In non-Muslim countries, there aren’t many mosques or Islamic educational organizations. And in case they are available, they are far away. It requires traveling long distances to reach them.
Allah Subanhu Wa Taala said in the Holy Quran:
” And content yourself with those who pray to their Lord morning and evening, desiring His Presence. And do not turn your eyes away from them, desiring the glitter of this world. And do not obey him whose heart We have made heedless of Our remembrance—so he follows his own desires—and his priorities are confused.” Surah al- Kahf, verse28.
So, the solution for this matter is to join an online Islamic educational institute that has a good reputation in teaching Quranic sciences. Moreover, you should find good companions who pray to their Lord morning and evening desiring His Presence. No doubt that they will guide you to the right path of truth.
What Is The Most Advantageous of The Online Quran Course?
A good online Quran course should have these various specific aspects that we are going to mention bellow:-
Inclusive Course
Every online Quran course should cover all different Quranic sciences. Someone may ask what are these sciences? Here they are:-
The Quranic Arabic Language
Quran was sent down from Allah the most high by Gabriel upon our prophet Mohammad [peace be upon him]. It is considered an eloquent miracle. Allah challenged the Arab’s amazing ability and great linguistic eloquence of the Arabic language at this age. It is a miraculous eloquence. Great Arab writers and poets were so famous for their Arabic language eloquence. They formed stunning poems which are still amazing and well known up to date.
Those poets reached a great level of mastering and commanding the Arabic language. They were excellent to the extent that they used to hold an annual exhibition for the most eloquent writings and the most beautiful poems. It was named Aokaz exhibition for poetry and writings. So the Holy Quran was sent down as a challenge from Allah to them. Allah defied them to form writings the same as the Holy Quran but they couldn’t. He The highest defied them even to form just one statement the same as the Holy Quran but they couldn’t. He The most high challenged them even to form a word but they failed.
So, the Quranic Arabic is unique and it is different from modern standard Arabic. Accordingly, those who aspire to read, recite and memorize Quran should learn the Quranic Arabic language in n order to be able to read the Quran correctly and recite it efficiently.
Abu Lubābah Bashīr ibn ‘Abd al-Mundhir (may Allah be pleased with him) reported that the Prophet (may Allah’s peace and blessings be upon him) said: “Whoever does not recite the Qur’an with a melodious voice is not one of us.” Sahih-Authentic. [Abu Dawood]. In this Hadīth, the Prophet (may Allah’s peace and blessings be upon him) urged us to recite the Qur’an with a melodious voice.
The Arabic word,”yataghanna” as mentioned in the hadīth, has two possible meanings:
The first meaning is the one who does not make his voice melodious when reciting the Qur’an is not someone following our path and guidance.
And the second meaning is the one who does not suffice with the Qur’an, seeking guidance elsewhere, is not one of us. Without a doubt, whoever seeks guidance in anything other than the Qur’an, Allah will lead him astray; we seek refuge with Allah. Hence, the Hadīth shows that a Muslim should recite the Qur’an with a melodious voice and find sufficiency in it from anything else.
Intonation (Tajweed)
“ يَا أَيُّهَا الْمُزَّمِّلُ قُمِ اللَّيْلَ إِلَّا قَلِيلًا نِصْفَهُ أَوِ انْقُصْ مِنْهُ قَلِيلًا أَوْ زِدْ عَلَيْهِ وَرَتِّل الْقُرْآنَ تَرْتِيلًا
— Surah al- Muzammal.
O you Enwrapped One ♤ Stay up the night, except a little,♤ For half of it, or reduce it a little♤ Or add to it; and chant the Quran rhythmically“.
If you want to chant the Holy Quran, then you should study Intonation (Tajweed) one of the basic sciences of the Holy Quran. Tajweed refers to the rules governing pronunciation during recitation of the Quran, starting from learning how to pronounce each letter correctly. It’s derived from the Arabic word stem (jeem-waaw-daal) which means ‘to make well, make better, or to improve.’
One of the great resources to kick-start (or revise) your Tajweed study is to join The Quran course of Shieky academy – in less than 24 hours you will be able to learn how to read Arabic letters and words with built-in Tajweed rules and learn the meanings of much many of the words of the Quran.
The Quran Interpretation And Explanation
Many Muslims don’t know that the Quranic interpretation is different from the Quranic explanation. Here are some aspects of these differences:
The Definition of Explanation (Tafseer)
Explanation is one of the most important sciences for understanding the Quran. Linguistically, it means to clarify the writings and its details. The explanation of something means to illustrate and specify it. So it has the meaning of disclosure and illustration. Quran Explanation, in legal terms, means to reveal its meanings, its expressions, its items and its vocabularies.
It is a science that guides understanding of the Word of Allah that was sent upon His Messenger Muhammad ( peace and prayers be upon him) in order to show and clarify its meanings and to extract its judgments and its laws. So it is original knowledge which has a deep relation with other Sciences such as the Quranic Arabic language, grammar and syntax (Al Nahao), the Quranic readings, the Islamic law and interpretation (illustration) science.
The Definition of Interpretation
The meaning of interpretation differs from the meaning of explanation: interpretation is to extract the invisible hidden meaning of the text: so that In terms of metaphor. but the explanation is to clarify or explain the meaning of the Quranic verses with words or synonyms that have a clear evidence without any possibilities, potentials or metaphors.
Explanation (Tafseer) is to identify or illustrate the meaning of a Qur’anic word which has just one meaning and it is not likely to be of other different meanings. Whereas interpretation is tipping or preferring a meaning or a synonym out of many other synonyms of a Qur’anic word which has many meanings and synonyms according to a clear evidence.
The explanation is to have the implication meaning placed in the mind, where the meaning is clarified. In speech, a word is denoted by the tongue, so man makes the mind and understands it. In some cases, the interpretation is no different from the appearance of sentences.
In other cases it means that the invisible hidden meaning of the verse doesn’t differ from the true meaning of its manifestations. [1. The interpretation of the word ‘Talaat’ in Surah Al- kahf is sunrise.
There are many types of explanation (Tafseer) One of them is the narrative explanation (Tafseer). It is supported by the true Sunnah or our prophet’s actions or what is called the verbal Sunnah and practical Sunnah. So, its meanings become clear and obvious when they’re linked with the Ahadith of our prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings are upon him), it is based primarily on narratives: that’s why it’s called explanation (Tafseer) with narrative.
